What has been the most surprising part of your Rice MBA experience?
The various teams at Rice Business somehow magically always surprise me by helping balance out the various pressures we face – academics, recruiting, networking, etc. – to make it a pleasant experience. The CDO team has golden techniques for tackling recruiters, the student association hosts partios and other events to give us much needed breaks, and various other teams take care of our overall well-being. Right when we're about to crack under pressure, some Rice team/member is there to support us.
What has been your favorite thing about your MBA experience so far?
My favorite thing about the Rice MBA so far has been the enthusiasm each member of the Rice family shows. Before coming here, I'd always heard that MBA is one of the most cut-throat programs, but that hasn't been the case here at all. And the support is extremely genuine – be it from peers or staff.
What do you love most about Houston?
Although a lot of people despise the Houston heat, I personally like the weather . It surprises you sometimes by acting moody, but the surprises are short-lived. It mostly invites you to step out and do stuff – which I think is essential to a healthy and happy lifestyle.
What is one piece of advice you would share with a prospective student – one sentence?
I'd suggest that they really weigh their options after getting in. Having a pre-determined goal is good, but before going ahead with it wholeheartedly, they should talk to people from different backgrounds and evaluate the choices available.
