Incredible opportunities exist outside the classroom to build lasting bonds with classmates and contribute to the Houston community- all while having a blast!

Partios and Post-Class Festivities
Partio (party on the patio) is a fun and accessible chance to build relationships and celebrate friendships. Occurring most Thursday nights at McNair Hall, partio is a fixture of the Rice Business experience.
Post-Class Festivities are a social event following class for MBA for Professionals classes. When class lets out on Wednesday and Saturday evening, you descend on a nearby bar to enjoy one another’s company.

Owl Bowl
Every fall, the Jones Graduate School of Business organizes a city wide flag football tournament for area MBA programs. Teams are assembled and compete from Rice Business, University of Texas in Houston, Texas A&M in Houston, University of Houston, and Tulane in Houston. It’s an awesome opportunity to grow your business school network beyond Rice while having a blast competing.

Gala
We all love a lavish formal event. Gala is our annual formal gathering held at incredible venues in Houston. In the springtime, put on your black tie or ball gown and join together with members from all Rice MBA programs to celebrate your success.

Owlympics
This event is pure fun! This spring will mark the third iteration of this incredibly popular event. Form teams from amongst your classmates, choose a country to represent, and have a blast competing in various “field day” type events like relay races, water balloon toss, bocce ball, and human hungry-hungry hippo! When the events are over, the feast begins.

International Partio
Rice Business welcomes students from all over the world. We celebrate this diversity each spring during our International Partio. Every year students volunteer to host a table during partio and showcase food and drinks from their home countries. You'll mingle with faculty and staff, enjoy sampling the food from all over the world, as well as enjoy the performances that take place at the end of the night.
-
Family Partio
Pursuing an MBA is a commitment by everyone in your family, so we enjoy including and celebrating our MBA families each fall and spring. Every fall we have a Family Partio on a standard Thursday evening, and in the spring we have a Spring Fling on a Saturday evening. Join us this year for family fun — bounce house, trackless train, facepainters and more!
Service Learning
At Rice Business, we love to give back to our community. We feel an obligation to be our best selves and contribute to the success of the people and organizations that surround us.

Jones Gives Back
Every semester, you plan, coordinate, and lead a day of service benefitting several charitable causes. Generally, 3-5 projects are run simultaneously around the city and afford you an opportunity to volunteer and make an immediate impact on the city of Houston. Every year Rice Business students give hundreds of hours of service during Jones Gives Back.
Student Clubs and Organizations
Our student clubs help develop leadership roles, provide a chance to learn more about different professions and improve business skills.
Clubs regularly collaborate to organize events such as the Women in Leadership Conference, Rice Veteran's Leadership Series and the Rice Energy Finance Summit. These attract hundreds of students, alumni and other professionals. Clubs also participate in industry treks (including Week on Wall Street, a Houston/Energy Trek, and a San Francisco/Tech Trek) to allow students to experience real-world business environments first hand.
