Together, we’ll make lasting connections.
The Rice Business community is for life. The connections you make quickly become friendships. Everything you need is close by, and everyone knows your name.
Partio
“Partio,” or party on the patio, is a venerated Rice Business tradition. Whether it's the Rice Around the World Partio to celebrate the different cultures in our community or a family Partio where you can introduce your littles and loved ones to your Rice Business family, Partios are our favorite way to unwind and get to know each other better. Join us.
Culture Matters
We call ourselves family, but we’re all different — different opinions, career goals and experiences. Our community is built on belonging, where every voice is valued and engaged. The Rice Business environment was designed so that everyone feels at home, connected and supported. It’s the relationships we build across differences that truly define us. Our faculty are part of this. They’re at Partios. They know which of your classmates just had a baby and which one is trying to pivot into private equity. They'll learn your background, your goals and what you're trying to build. They write the recommendation, make the introduction and take the call long after you've graduated.

Best of Both Worlds
We offer the best of both worlds at Rice Business: A small, tight-knit student body contained within a central business quad that includes McNair Hall and Virani Hall and offers prime access to the facilities across Rice University’s 300-acre campus. Rice Business students are encouraged to visit and use the university’s library, student center, chapel, rec center and coffee shops, as well as the Lilie Lab and the Turrell Skyspace. Small also means undivided. Every MBA format shares one quad, one faculty and the same traditions — so the people you meet aren't just your cohort. They're the whole school.
Owls for Life
The friendships you make here don't end at graduation. Our alumni answer cold emails. They take the call, make the introduction and sit on the other side of the interview table. More than 10,000 of them, in every major industry. That's the part of student life that lasts longest: not the two years during the program, but the 30 years that follow.
A Day in the Life of a Rice Business Student
Personally Speaking
My favorite part of the MBA experience is becoming a part of Rice Business Student Association. I love to make influential change in whatever endeavor I am doing and RBSA allows me to do just that.

Sitting on the benches on Partio Thursday evenings. Chatting with people — teammates, professors, mentors. Endless conversations on invaluable experiences. Unforgettable moments of tears and laughter... It’s all been impactful to my career and my life.

My favorite thing? Partios are a given, so I would have to go with the Zoom chats. They are hilarious and really highlight the different personalities.
