Veterans Business Battle

The Veterans Business Battle began in 2014 with a goal of inspiring and encouraging our nation’s military heroes to become successful entrepreneurs. Each year, the two-day event gives military veterans an opportunity to pitch startup businesses for a chance to raise capital from investors and lenders. During the competition, finalists pitch investors, receive feedback from industry professionals, network with potential investors, and learn from other entrepreneurial success stories. With more than $10 million of investments, it’s the largest veteran business competition in the country.

1st Place: IntuBlade

IntuBlade Co. has developed a battlefield-inspired medical device for airway management that ensures clarity when seconds count. Founded by combat-wounded Veterans and refined by emergency medical experts, we provide the world’s only disposable video laryngoscope with a patented lens-clearing port. Our technology eliminates the risk of obscured views from blood or secretions, allowing for faster, safer, and more reliable intubations in critical emergency, military, and hospital environments.

2nd Place: StreamSettle

At StreamSettle, our core belief is simple: if you give negotiating parties a safe place to be reasonable, they will be. We built StreamSettle to be that safe place. Our triple-blind platform empowers insurers and plaintiff lawyers to confidentially test if their True Settlement Thresholds^TM overlap, i.e. the insurer’s number is at least as much as the claimant’s. When overlap is detected, a fully executed, binding settlement agreement is instantly generated. If not, the parties’ numbers remain concealed. StreamSettle allows insurers to resolve claims at their earliest possibility, potentially saving tens of thousands of dollars per claim and mitigating the risk of runaway verdicts. StreamSettle is a browser-based application that requires zero IT integration. We charge a success fee of 1% per side (capped at $1,000) only if the claim settles on StreamSettle. If not, no fees are charged and nothing is revealed making StreamSettle a truly risk-free solution.

3rd Place: Pulse Patch

Pulse Patch's mission is to mitigate deaths in police custody. We utilize current technology in a novel way by making a small, disposable sensor for law enforcement to apply to subjects after arrest to monitor their well-being and provide timely alerts if a potential medical need exists. This will mitigate the more than 100 documented deaths in custody per year. Not only does the law enforcement community desire this technology, but its insurance providers and community members do as well.
