Erica Njoku
Director of Student Experience
As a native Houstonian, I am thrilled to be a part of Rice Business and to support all students in thriving. My pursuit of an undergraduate degree led me to the University of Pittsburgh, where I majored in psychology and minored in Spanish. Soon thereafter, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Houston. I utilized this academic experience to launch my professional journey. I have worked in residence life and student activities at a variety of institutions across the country. Aside from my academic and professional endeavors, I am an avid traveler, hoping to eventually see all seven continents (although Antarctica may have to be experienced through a TV screen, given my aversion to the cold). I am eager to meet each of you, to hear your stories, and to be a champion for all Owls!
What is your favorite quote and why?
“For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we are brave enough to be it.” – Amanda Gorman. This quote is a reminder that we are right where we are supposed to be and there is always an opportunity to join people on their journey whether joining with them in their joy, being present in moments of despair and everything in between. In every moment, we have the chance to be the light.
What is your favorite comfort food?
I love vanilla bean cupcakes with no icing!
