In 2020, We Completed a Task Force Dedicated to Fostering Equity and Inclusion
In 2020, The global community, particularly those in the U.S., faced historic challenges: the pandemic, work and school life conducted on screens, troubling social divisions. These tough experiences created a need to to create work cultures that are diverse, equitable and inclusive. Rice Business faced the challenge head-on.
The Rice Business Task Force was charged with researching, evaluating and recommending actions to be taken by Rice Business to promote racial equity and social justice. The task force conducted an in-depth evaluation across multiple aspects of our curriculum, programs and more to improve the environment at Rice Business for students, staff, faculty, alumni and all who enter McNair Hall to participate in a class or event. The mission was to ensure we were developing prepared students who can lead effectively in a diverse world.
One key outcome of the task force was the Office of Belonging and Engagement to facilitate an environment where all feel a sense of belonging and are welcomed, valued and respected.
