Patrick Okorafor
Lecturer in Entrepreneurship
Patrick Okorafor is director of finance at Mercury, an early stage venture capital firm that invests in early stage B2B SaaS companies. At Mercury, Patrick focuses on valuations, financial reporting, investment fundings, audit, tax, financial modeling, cash management and forecasting, entity/fund formation, LP communications and compliance.
Prior to joining Mercury, Patrick worked as a senior accountant for CRG LP, a healthcare-focused private equity firm, and as an associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he audited private equity firms and mutual fund complexes. Patrick holds two Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees from the University of Houston – Downtown, one in accounting and another in finance. He furthered his education at Rice University, where he earned an MBA with concentrations in entrepreneurship and strategic management. Additionally, Patrick is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Texas.
Outside of Mercury, Patrick enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He loves to travel, cook diverse cuisines, try new restaurants and entertainment venues, read high fantasy novels, play strategic board games, and take his son to the park or museum. He is currently pursuing a CFA designation, and serves as a lecturer in entrepreneurship at Rice University where he teaches a course on financial modeling for entrepreneurs.
