What has been the most surprising part of your Rice MBA? I came to the MBA program with the aim of accelerating my career (8+ years) in the energy industry. However, what surprised me the most is the amazing opportunities to explore other career options. The MBA has given me the space and time to reflect on where I want to go next.
What has been your favorite thing about your MBA experience? I have many special moments and favorite things to say about my MBA experience thus far. However, a very recent one is the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Ignite Trek at Silicon Valley. It was such an enriching, immersive, and experiential experience. The knowledge I gained and the incredible connections I made will have a lasting impact on my professional journey.
What do you love most about Houston? Houston feels like home away from home. The weather condition is very similar to my home country, Nigeria, and I feel very comfortable because I don’t love the cold. Another reason why I love Houston is because it has a vibrant cultural scene, with a very diverse population, excellent food options, affordable cost of living, and thriving industries such as energy, healthcare, and technology.
What is one piece of advice you would share with a prospective student? Everyone has imposter syndrome, so don't worry about it. Embrace it, believe in yourself, and your abilities.
