Associate Director, Offshore Operators Committee
Joseph Gomes is the Associate Director for Offshore Operators Committee the oil and gas industry’s principal representative regarding the regulation of offshore exploration, development, and producing operations in the Gulf of Mexico. This effort has been accomplished primarily through volunteer work by technical, supervisory and management personnel of many companies who staff various OOC standing and ad hoc subcommittees.
Within this role, he oversees the administration of the activities of the CORE, Satellite and Partnership programs which includes all of DeepStar CORE projects, industry JIPs, and the technical subcommittee as well as facilitates technical workshops and industry symposiums. Joseph has been the Associate Director with OOC the previous five years developing the technical framework of the program and executing the technical and legal contracts for hundreds of research projects across a broad range of offshore technologies.
Prior to DeepStar, Joseph has had extensive experience in the oil & gas industry, which includes his previous roles at DowDuPont and ExxonMobil as International & Global Production Manager, and Global Process Research Manager working on asphaltene mitigation. Joseph received his Executive Master of Business from Rice University Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, a graduate degree in inorganic catalyst chemistry from Florida State University and a bachelor degree in chemical engineering from the University of South Florida.
Joseph also serves on a number of industry panels which includes Offshore Technology Conference Program Committee as Vice-Chairperson with The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society, a board member on NASA’s rockets and rigs, Houston energy technology panel, AIChE planning committee, and other industry and community engagement.
Joseph lives in Spring with his wife, Miranda (fellow EMBA alumni) and their four children.
