Dhruv Grewal
Toyota Chair in Marketing, Babson College
Dhruv Grewal (Ph.D., Virginia Tech) is the Toyota Chair in Commerce and Electronic Business and a professor of marketing at Babson College. His research focuses on retailing, services, social media, marketing research, value-based strategies and pricing. He has been listed in The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds by Thomson Reuters (2014) and in Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers lists (2020-2023).
Grewal is also a GSBE Extramural Fellow at Maastricht University, a fractional professor of marketing at the University of Bath, and an honorary distinguished visiting professor of retailing and marketing at Tecnológico de Monterrey. He has held visiting positions at St. Gallen University, Dartmouth, and the Stockholm School of Economics.
He has been ranked first in the marketing field for publications in top marketing journals during the 1991-1998 and 2000-2007 periods. Recently, he was ranked third for publications in Journal of Marketing and Journal of Marketing Research (2014-2023). He has over 96,000 citations on Google Scholar and has published in major journals like Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Grewal serves on editorial boards, including Journal of Marketing (associate editor) and Journal of Retailing (advisory board). He has received awards for his editorial work and has co-edited special issues for journals like Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing.
He has coauthored several textbooks, including Marketing and Retailing Management (McGraw-Hill). He has won numerous teaching awards, including the Sherwin-Williams Distinguished Teaching Award. Grewal has also mentored many doctoral students and young faculty, earning the 2021 AMA Retail & Pricing SIG’s Mentorship Award.
He has delivered executive seminars and worked on projects with firms like Dell, ExxonMobil, McKinsey and Sherwin Williams. He has also served as a consultant and expert witness on various legal cases and on the boards of Babson Global and Marketing Edge.
