Blair Prato
MAcc Class of 2019
New Jersey native Blair Prato went to Rice University for his undergraduate degree where he majored in economics and minored in business. He always knew that he wanted to pursue a career in business but was unsure which direction he wanted to take. Once introduced to accounting through the business minor, Blair knew that he wanted to explore the field more thoroughly as it was one of his favorite classes.
During Blair’s sophomore year, he realized that he had enough credits to graduate in three years to accelerate his education. It was also around the same time that he was made aware of the newly formed Master of Accounting program and it was exactly what he was looking for. “The accounting profession provided the perfect cross roads for me to use my analytical and business skillsets.”
The summer after graduating with his Rice undergraduate degree, Blair interned at EY within their tax department. “This was a very informative time for me as it furthered my understanding of what the day-to-day life of being an accountant would entail as well as the type of work which would be expected.”
After completing the internship, Blair received a full-time job offer and accepted a position in the Tax Services department at the Houston EY office. “I chose to stay here in Houston as it really is an amazing city. It is very livable and there are always new and exciting things to do.” He graduated from the MAcc program in May of 2019 and is now working at EY.
