Alan Crain
Chairman, EP Energy Corporation
Alan is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of EP Energy Corporation (NYSE: EPE), in Houston. He is also a member of the boards of Harvey Gulf International Marine in New Orleans and two portfolio companies of Hastings Energy in Houston. Previously, he served as Chairman of the Board of Accend, Inc., a data and software company in Austin and on the board of Mariner Energy in Houston.
He lectures regularly on corporate governance matters, including each year at the Jones School Graduate School of Business at Rice University. He has also lectured at Stanford University, Duke University, the University of Texas and the Fletcher School at Tufts University. He was an adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston for 10 years.
From 2000 through 2016. he was Senior Vice President, Chief Legal & Governance Officer of Baker Hughes, a technology and services company operating in over 80 countries, where he had global responsibility for legal affairs, crisis management, compliance, security, enterprise risk management, and government relations. Earlier, he was Executive Vice President & General Counsel of Crown Holdings after serving as Vice President & General Counsel of Union Texas Petroleum Holdings, and with Pennzoil Company and the El Paso Company. He began his career with a law firm in Washington, D.C.
He is Chairman of the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Engineering, a J.D. and a M.B.A.
