Alvin Shaffer

Alvin was born in Louisiana and currently resides with his wife and three children in Houston.

Alvin joined Equinor in 2008 as a Senior Pipeline Engineer for US offshore operations and was later appointed to lead the Technology Projects and Drilling team in Houston, supporting Equinor's global business activities. Throughout his career at Equinor, he has held several senior leadership roles, including within Finance and Control, Asset Management for both onshore and offshore assets, and offshore field development. Since 2019, Alvin has been actively involved in the technology space within Equinor.

Currently, Alvin leads Equinor’s Partnerships, Ecosystems, and Intelligence team. This team manages key strategic external partnerships, delivers technology intelligence on emerging trends, and oversees global ecosystem management. By leveraging global ecosystems, Alvin's team helps Equinor harness cutting-edge technology to drive innovation. They also spearhead Equinor’s venture clienting initiative, collaborating with mature startups to solve critical challenges across the organization.

Before joining Equinor, Alvin spent eight years at ExxonMobil’s Pipeline Company, where he worked as a Control and Automation Engineer. His responsibilities included supporting pipeline operations and executing risk and integrity programs.
