What has been the most surprising part of your Rice MBA experience? The most surprising part of my Rice MBA experience has been how quickly the community became a source of support, not just academically but personally. I expected to learn from professors and classmates, but I didn’t expect how invested people would be in each other’s success. From classmates jumping in to preparing for case interviews together to the support I’ve received as a new parent, I’ve seen how Rice’s culture goes beyond collaboration — it’s genuine care.
That sense of connection has shaped the way I approach the program. It’s why I organized events before Launch to help my cohort bond, and why I continue to take on leadership roles that bring students together. The Rice MBA isn’t just about career acceleration; it’s about being part of a community that lifts each other up, and that’s been the most meaningful (and surprising) part of my journey.
What has been your favorite thing about your MBA experience so far? My favorite part of the Rice MBA experience so far has been the community. From Launch Week to now, I’ve been surrounded by classmates who are not only ambitious but also down to earth and willing to support each other. Whether it’s teaming up for case competitions, late night study sessions or simply connecting at social events, those shared experiences have been the highlight of my time here.
I’ve especially enjoyed creating spaces for that community to grow, like organizing pre-Launch volunteer events, leading the ETA Conference planning committee and serving as BBSA Social Chair. Those moments where people come together, build friendships, and strengthen the Rice culture are what make the program so special to me.
What is one piece of advice you would share with prospective professional MBA students? Say yes often, because the more you engage with classmates and opportunities, the richer your experience will be.
