Christina Tamayo
Project Manager, Grid United

Christina Tamayo is a project manager at Grid United. Her current project is Southline Transmission, a nearly 280-mile long transmission project located in Arizona and New Mexico.
A U.S. Army veteran, Christina served nine years as a Military Police Officer, specializing in emergency and crisis management. She commanded a team of 180 people across a law enforcement unit and a corrections group and was involved in developing and managing protection, operations, logistics, and sustainability plans and programs. Prior to joining Grid United, Christina was a part of the waste management industry as an associate for innovation, corporate development, and venturing. She was involved in wide-ranging studies and projects involving fleet energy solutions, AI/Machine Learning, rapid prototype design, recycling technology and markets, and land-based carbon reduction strategies inclusive of community stakeholders.
Christina is one of the co-founders of the Rice Cleantech Innovation Competition. Christina is a field force volunteer for West Point admissions, mentoring and coaching high school students aspiring to attend a military academy. She’s a committed wife and mother to a cat and two children. Christina is a member of the Renewable Energy Alliance of Houston and participates in the young professional’s group, which helps plan engaging networking and education events. Christina is a mentor with American Corporate Partners (ACP) and the Mentor Collective group affiliated with Rice University, Jones School of Business.
Christina holds an MBA from Rice University and a bachelor’s in Engineering Psychology from the United States Military Academy at West Point. She is FEMA ICS 100-400 level certified.
