Welcome to Rice Business Partners!
For the last 28 years, Rice Business Partners has helped Rice Business create meaningful connections with Houston’s business community, following our mission to Connect, Inform, and Inspire
During our last season, we hosted numerous events that attracted close to 1,000 individuals who helped strengthen our community and foster opportunities for collaboration:
At our August Welcome Reception, Provost Amy Dittmar shared Rice University’s quest to elevate its national and international stature. In October, as part of our Roundtable Series, Professor Daan van Knippenberg debunked the myth of constructive conflict, emphasizing the importance of diversity of perspectives for optimal team performance.
In December, Donna Sims Wilson led a Thought Leadership Series session, sharing the innovative techniques that allowed her to advance in her investment banking and asset management journey. Then in January, our Thought Leadership Series featured a NASA panel with William T. Harris and Douglas Terrier, who discussed the rapid growth in space commercialization, the strategic plan for Space Center Houston, and the implications for its relevance and growth of the technology ecosystem for the region and the nation.
Our programming continued in February with Professor Bruce Carlin, who, as part of our Roundtable Series, presented his research demonstrating that CFOs use high hurdle rates in capital projects and how this practice impacts firm value through bargaining advantages.
In our mission to Connect, Inform, and Inspire, Rice Business Partners strives to open doors to partnerships, provide lifelong learning and thought leadership, and energize growth within the business community. This year, we will again have a strong lineup of speakers and interesting events. Our board will also undertake efforts to increase participation and further enhance our value proposition to our corporate members.
