Shawnie McBride

Shawnie McBride serves as senior vice president of commercial operations at NRG, leading commodity trading, portfolio optimization and market risk strategy. With extensive experience in energy markets, Shawnie drives commercial decision-making across asset optimization, hedging and market positioning to maximize value through changing market conditions. Her leadership emphasizes disciplined risk management, data-driven trading strategies and aligning the commercial portfolio with NRG’s long-term objectives. Previously, she served as NRG’s chief risk officer and led sales operations for NRG Business. Before joining NRG, she was chief risk officer at Direct Energy, overseeing development and implementation of the company’s risk management program. With over 25 years in energy markets, Shawnie has held leadership roles across risk management, technology, sales operations and wholesale trading. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Texas A&M University.
