What has been the most surprising part of your Rice MBA experience? The most surprising part of my Rice MBA experience has been the sheer volume of groups, activities and events available to participate in. I knew Rice Business was a vibrant community, but I didn’t anticipate just how many opportunities there would be to engage with others, learn new skills and build relationships. Whether it’s participating in case competitions, joining professional clubs, attending networking events, or connecting with faculty and alumni, there’s always something happening. It can sometimes feel overwhelming, but in the best possible way — there are so many ways to get involved and make the most of your time here. The level of engagement from both students and faculty truly creates an atmosphere where growth, both personal and professional, is not only encouraged but also supported at every turn.
What has been your favorite thing about your MBA experience so far? My favorite thing about my MBA experience so far has undoubtedly been the network of incredible people I’ve met and the lasting friendships that have developed. The sense of camaraderie within the Rice Business community is unlike anything I expected — everyone is not only driven but also genuinely supportive and collaborative. I’ve learned so much from my peers, and the bonds I’ve formed will extend well beyond graduation. On top of that, I’ve also enjoyed the sports activities and events offered at Rice. Whether it’s competing in Owl Bowl or simply joining in on informal games, these activities provide a perfect balance to the academic rigor, helping to build connections and creating unforgettable memories. The combination of meaningful relationships and fun, shared experiences has made my MBA journey truly special.
What is one piece of advice you would share with prospective professional MBA students? Get involved — two years goes by quickly, so take advantage of every opportunity to connect, learn and grow.
