Nicola Fuentes Toubia

Nicola Fuentes Toubia is the founding member of Fuentes Toubia, PLLC, a law firm dedicated solely to the legal and tax issues facing nonprofits. With almost 25 years of experience as a lawyer representing tax-exempt organizations, Nicola offers her clients a unique skill set because she really knows the tax laws that control their exempt status, as well as the laws that influence their nonprofit governance structures and operations. Her clients include arts organizations, universities, primary schools, private foundations, social welfare organizations, churches, community development organizations, affordable housing nonprofits, conservation groups, health care providers, mental health clinics, and advocacy organizations. A frequent industry speaker, Nicola is a member of the Texas Bar, the American Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association. For the past ten years, Nicola has served as an instructor at Rice University’s Leadership Institute for Nonprofit Executives and on the planning committee for the University of Texas School of Law’s Nonprofit Organizations Institute. She received a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Houston Law Center, and a B.S., magna cum laude, in Economics from Texas A&M University.
