Michael Roberts

Mr. Roberts is a Managing Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Oil & Gas Exploration and Production
Group and Heads Oil & Gas Capital Markets, with responsibility for advising, structuring, and
raising capital on behalf of the firm’s oil & gas clients. He is based in the firm’s Houston office.
 
Mr. Roberts joined Houlihan Lokey in 2016 with more than 17 years of oil & gas corporate
finance experience. He joined Houlihan Lokey from The Carlyle Group (Energy Mezzanine
Opportunities Group), where he focused on bespoke solutions for energy clients. Prior to that, he
spent almost 14 years at Scotiabank, where he focused on originating, structuring, and
syndicating capital markets solutions for energy clients.
 
Over the course of his career, Mr. Roberts has advised on capital formation for acquisitions,
recapitalizations, asset development, and special situations, as well as originating and structuring
joint ventures, mezzanine debt, and structured equity solutions as a principal investor. 
 
Mr. Roberts graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a B.B.A. in Finance and
holds an MBA from the Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business, where he was a
Jones Scholar.
