Masaki Harada
Manager, Upstream and Carbon Management, Mitsubishi

Maki joined Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) in June 2021 and is responsible for the carbon management business development and climate-tech investment. Recognizing the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving net-zero, he led participation as Asia's first anchor partner in the Catalyst program by Breakthrough Energy, the organization founded by Bill Gates in 2015, the world's largest climate-tech focused public-private partnership. He served as a member of the investment and technology expert team of Catalyst program and was involved in the development of the climate impact assessment measurement tool. Maki also served on Mitsubishi's Energy Transformation Task Force and was involved in strategy development and startup/project investments. In addition, he served as a mentor of two startups, SunGreen H2 and PuriFire Labs. Prior to Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), Maki worked for Mitsubishi Corporation in Tokyo, Pakistan and Russia since 2013. When he engaged in Sakhalin liquefied natural gas project in Russia, he was the representative of the commercial committee and led the world-class shareholders, Russian government and buyers. Prior to Russia, he was stationed in Pakistan to set up a liquefied natural gas receiving terminal at Port Qasim to contribute to the energy transformation in Pakistan. Maki graduated from Hitotsubashi University Faculty of Commerce. He also got the Bachelor of Business Administration at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. Currently, he lives in Houston with his wife and 2 sons.
