John A. Carrig
Mr. John A. Carrig was president and chief operating officer of ConocoPhillips when he retired last year. He spent his entire 32 year career with ConocoPhillips and one of its predecessors Phillips Petroleum.
Mr. Carrig served as executive vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer from 2002 to 2008 and prior to that he was the CFO of Phillips. From 1996 to 2001, he was vice president, senior vice president and treasurer. He joined the company in 1978 as a tax attorney.
Mr. Carrig currently serves on the board of directors of WPX Energy, an independent oil and gas producer based in Tulsa, Forum Energy Technologies, a global oil field products based in Houston, and TRC Company, a national engineering, consulting and construction management firm headquartered in Windsor Connecticut. He is a member of the Council of Overseers for the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University. He serves on the board of directors for the Alley Theatre in Houston, on the board of trustees of the Greater Houston United Way and of the British American Foundation of Texas.
Mr. Carrig graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1977, he received his law degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, and attended the New York University School of Law, receiving an advanced degree in tax law in 1978.
