What has been the most surprising part of your Rice MBA? The most surprising part of my Rice MBA experience has been how genuinely invested the community is in each other’s success. I expected a competitive environment, but what I found instead was a culture where people willingly share and offer to connect you with their networks or stay late after a group meeting just to make sure everyone is on the same page.
It’s one thing to hear about “tight-knit culture” in a brochure, but it’s another to experience it daily in the way people genuinely show up for each other. That sense of belonging and support has been the most unexpected so far.
What has been your favorite thing about your MBA experience? As an international student, I wasn’t sure how quickly I’d feel at home, but the way my peers welcomed me, from helping me settle in Houston to guiding me through recruiting, made me feel part of a strong, inclusive community. The connections I’ve made here go beyond networking; they’re friendships and professional relationships I know will last long after graduation.
What do you love most about Houston? What I love most about Houston is how vibrant and diverse it is. As someone new to the U.S., I was surprised by the size of the city. whether it’s the food, cultural events, or just the people you meet. Plus, the cost of living is pretty reasonable for a major city, which makes it easier to enjoy everything Houston has to offer.
What is one piece of advice you would share with a prospective? Never hesitate to reach out to a Rice student.
