Elena Demidova
Senior Economist, Shell Exploration & Production
A native Russian, Elena came to the U.S. after receiving the Fulbright scholarship to study Public Administration at Syracuse University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. After graduating with a concentration in Public Finance, she was a teaching and research assistant in Information Science PhD program at University of Texas in Austin. Then, through consulting engagements, she assisted clients in developing new business and helped financial clients manage global risk, credit, and portfolio valuation.
Elena joined Shell in June of 2009 after graduating from Rice MBA program and the internship at Shell Global Solutions, Strategy group. She had three roles so far in Supply, Contracts & Negotiations, Global Energy Contracting and Procurement, and Economics, Exploration and New Ventures. These roles allowed Elena understanding of how an integrated energy company generates returns while driving projects to optimize supply chain capabilities or valuating sourcing strategies and deals including a large scale divestment of unconventional exploration assets.
Elena has served on the Rice Jones School Alumni Board since 2012 and likes spending time with her family, travelling, and reading about world geopolitics.
