Dan Maxwell
Lecturer in Entrepreneurship

Dan Maxwell is the owner of LDR Leadership, a consulting firm that applies military-inspired leadership frameworks to frontline managers in high consequence environments where both safety and performance are critical.
After completing his undergraduate degree at Aurora University, Maxwell commissioned into the U.S. Army as an artillery officer, serving as a platoon leader and 4th Infantry Division fire support officer at Fort Carson, CO. Following his military service, Maxwell pivoted into healthcare as an account executive for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices. He leveraged his experience at Johnson & Johnson to join Bolder Surgical, a medical device startup specializing in pediatric surgical instruments, before it was acquired by Hologic Inc., a global leader in women's health.
Following a successful exit at Bolder, Maxwell pursued an MBA at Rice Business to sharpen his skills in finance and accounting while taking the next step in his entrepreneurial journey. He now serves as a strategic advisor for the Veterans Business Battle (VBB), a veteran-focused pitch competition hosted at Rice Business. Maxwell is deeply committed to supporting veteran entrepreneurs and mental health advocacy for those navigating the transition from active duty service to civilian life.
Outside of work, Maxwell's personal interests include health and human performance, writing, comedy and mental health advocacy.
