What has been the most surprising part of your Rice Business experience?
Throughout my Rice Business experience, I have been most surprised by how exploratory the business major curriculum is. Outside of learning the core content to prepare for the industry, many of my classes have provided an academic introduction to a variety of finance career paths that helped me understand what I was most interested in. Outside of the business school, I've been surprised by how interdisciplinary my Rice experience overall has been -- the flexibility of the business major has allowed me to explore courses across many departments, anywhere from history to theatre!
What has been your favorite thing about your Rice Business experience?
The collaboration among students involved in Rice Business! Students across all years are willing to help mentor peers and work together in the classroom/when learning about early career opportunities. Learning from upperclassmen and peers has been incredibly helpful and I've come away from Rice with so many friendships because of this.
What do you love most about Houston?
Going to school in Houston has been lovely! Rice's location is the perfect middle ground where you get the benefit of being in a city with so many things to do + internship opportunities and also having an enclosed campus to get a full college experience.
What is one piece of advice you would share with a prospective student?
Spend your time at Rice very intentionally and be true to your interests! There are so many professional and especially personal opportunities to learn and above all so many awesome people to meet, so use your time wisely because there are so many great opportunities to be involved on campus.
