Beth O'Sullivan
Communication Coach (Retired)
Beth O’Sullivan served on the faculty of Rice University’s Graduate School of Business for over 25 years and retired in July 2023. She taught communication courses in the Executive MBA and daytime MBA programs, in the undergraduate entrepreneurship program, and in the School of Engineering. While on the faculty she was also active as an executive coach and communication consultant for clients in energy, real estate, biotech, pharma and private wealth management.
She enjoys collaborating with people to help them develop leadership communication skills. Her hands-on workshops and classes cover topics such as public speaking, listening, effective writing, persuasion, crisis communication, intercultural communication and interpersonal communications. She also works with various accelerator programs in Houston to offer pitch coaching and mentoring to entrepreneurial startups, including the Rice Clean Energy Accelerator and Texas Medical Center/TMC Innovation program.
Before joining Rice University, she spent ten years in corporate communications and investor relations for Oceaneering International, Inc. She holds a B.A. in Biology from Gettysburg College, an MBA from Texas A&M University and is certified as a leadership and executive coach through the International Coaching Federation.
