Since launching our business major in 2021, the undergraduate program has become one of the fastest-growing degrees at Rice University. In honor of a historic donation from Houston business and community leaders Farid and Asha Virani in 2024, Rice Business established the Virani Undergraduate School of Business. Housed alongside Jones Graduate School of Business in McNair Hall, the school offers unmatched academic and extracurricular opportunities for undergraduates looking to shape the future of business in Houston, Texas and beyond.

Farid and Asha Virani are dedicated community leaders whose generosity established the Virani Undergraduate School of Business at Rice Business. After immigrating to the United States at the age of 19, Farid founded Prime Communications, which is now the largest AT&T-authorized retailed in North America. He is committed to social impact alongside his wife, Asha, who is a Rice alumna and medical doctor. Together, Farid and Asha co-founded The Faris Foundation, which funds childhood cancer research, raises public awareness and provides community care initiatives in honor of their beloved son, Faris D.
Farid and Asha are also proud parents of Faraz Virani ’21, who graduated from Rice with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and minors in business and entrepreneurship, and Zoya, who works in the tech industry. The philanthropic gift from the Virani family ignites a new era of undergraduate education and ensures that Rice Business students are equipped with the knowledge, resources and opportunities to thrive professionally and tackle global challenges.
