Why did you select Rice Business for your MBA?
I chose Rice Business because it offered the perfect combination of a rigorous, analytics‑driven curriculum and a deeply collaborative culture. I wanted a program where I could sharpen my strategic and financial decision‑making while staying connected to Houston’s ecosystem of real estate, and infrastructure - industries directly aligned with my career path.
How has Rice helped you with your career?
Rice helped me elevate from being a strong technical and operational leader to someone who can think and operate at the enterprise level. The MBA strengthened my strategic decision‑making, financial modeling, and leadership toolkit, and it expanded my network across industries that directly intersect with real estate, development, and infrastructure. It gave me the confidence and credibility to pursue higher‑impact roles and lead more complex, cross‑functional programs.
What is the most important advice you’d like to share with prospective and current students?
I would tell anyone pursuing a goal not to wait. Move toward it now. Don’t let time, hesitation, or fear limit your chances to succeed.
What have you valued most in the Rice black student and / or alumni network?
Even though I wasn’t directly involved with the Rice Black student network, I’ve always valued the sense of community and representation it provides. Knowing that there is a strong, supportive group of Black students and alumni who are committed to mentorship, visibility, and shared success adds depth to the Rice experience. Their presence strengthens the culture and creates pathways for connection, even for those of us who weren’t formally engaged.
