Ray Cao

Qing (Ray) Cao, Ph.D., is the UHD Distinguished Faculty and Petroleum & Land Management (PLM) Endowed Professor of Supply Chain Management in the Marilyn Davies College of Business at the University of Houston–Downtown. Cao served as the Jerry Rawls Endowed Professor and a full professor in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University from 2008 to 2015 before moving to UHD. Cao has taught all levels of college classes, including B.A., MBA, EMBA, and Ph.D., since 1997. He is the recipient of the University Teaching Award at University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2007. Cao has published more than 76 research papers in many top business journals (e.g. Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, etc.) and he also co-authored two textbooks and several book chapters, accumulating more than 8,000 Google Scholar citations (h-index: 42; i10-index: 76). Cao is the recipient of the Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activity Award at UHD in 2018, the recipient of the Chancellor's Distinguished Research Award at Texas Tech University in 2012, and the recipient of the Trustee's Faculty Research Award at University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2005. In addition, Cao has more than 10 years of industrial work experience in engineering, operations management, and IT and business consulting.
