Varun Garg is a Class of 2026 MBA candidate at Rice University, Jones Graduate School of Business. He earned his Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering and was recognized with the Chancellor's Special Achievers Award for his academic and leadership contributions.
Before his MBA, Varun spent several years in the financial markets industry, progressing from a Trainee Analyst to an Associate. He led a team of 12 and managed a $25M portfolio in energy and agricultural commodity derivatives, developing expertise in trading strategies, market analysis, and automation. His deep understanding of global energy markets and price dynamics allowed him to identify opportunities, drive business improvements, and contribute to revenue growth.
Passionate about finance and the evolving energy landscape, Varun is eager to apply his skills at the intersection of financial markets and energy transition. He hopes to contribute to innovative solutions that drive efficiency, sustainability, and long-term value in the energy sector while continuing to learn and grow in the field.
