Shannon Sciarappa
Assistant Professor of Management – Organizational Behavior
Shannon Sciarappa, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of management in organizational behavior at Rice Business. Sciarappa’s research uses qualitative methods to explore how individuals navigate and reshape their identities, views of work, and relationships in response to significant organizational or work-related events, primarily drawing from theories of meaningful work and identity. With a goal of contributing to both theoretical and practical insights, she has studied a variety of contexts such as investment bankers, former teachers, family business members and athletic teams. Sciarappa has taught core management courses at Boston College, where she received the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award. Professor Sciarappa received her Ph.D. in organization studies from Boston College, and a MBA and B.S. from Bentley University. Prior to joining Rice, she worked as a researcher at Harvard Business School, Yale University and Bentley University.
