Larry Coben

Dr. Larry Coben is President and CEO of NRG Energy, bringing over 40 years of experience in the energy sector, spanning both renewable and conventional energy, sustainable development, and energy policy. An NRG Board member since 2003, he has served as Board Chair since 2017. Dr. Coben also served as Chair and CEO of various affiliates of Tremisis Energy. He has served on the Boards of SAESA, a Chilean utility, and Prisma Energy, as well as on the advisory board of Morgan Stanley Infrastructure II, L.P. He is Founder and Board Chair of the ESCALA Initiative, an NGO that provides a Business School and Capacity Training Program to marginalized women entrepreneurs around the world. Dr. Coben holds a B.A. in economics from Yale University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in anthropology with a focus in archaeology from the University of Pennsylvania.
