What has been the most surprising part of your Rice MBA experience? The most surprising part of my Rice MBA experience has been how intentionally supportive and safe the learning environment is. Coming in, I expected a highly rigorous and competitive academic setting, but what stood out was how much emphasis is placed on growth rather than just outcomes. Professors actively encourage open discussion, curiosity, and even learning through failure, which creates a space where students feel comfortable contributing and challenging themselves. This environment has allowed me to step outside my comfort zone, engage more deeply, and grow not only academically, but also in confidence and leadership.
What has been your favorite thing about your MBA experience so far? My favorite part of my MBA experience so far has been the strong sense of community and genuine support among students and faculty. What stands out is how approachable and collaborative everyone is—people are willing to share their time, perspectives, and experiences to help each other succeed. As someone balancing a demanding professional role while pursuing my MBA, that support system has been incredibly valuable. It has allowed me to fully engage in the program, build meaningful relationships, and grow both academically and personally. This culture of collaboration is what truly sets the Rice MBA experience apart for me.
What is one piece of advice you would share with a prospective student – one sentence? Be intentional about what you want to get out of the program. While FOMO is real, the semesters move quickly, and focus will help you maximize your experience.
