Jim Hansen

Jim Hansen is Head of Investment Banking for Opportune Partners LLC, an independent investment banking and financial advisory affiliate of Opportune LLP. Jim has over 40 years of commercial and investment banking experience beginning as a banking generalist before becoming the head of the oil service lending group at Manufacturers Trust Co. in 1981. He also was Co-Head of the Energy Corporate Finance department and worked in the Private Placement Group handling energy companies. Prior to joining Opportune, Jim worked at several investment banks, including Howard Weil, Banc of America Securities, First Albany, Morgan Keegan and Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. Inc.

At many of those firms, he served as the head of energy investment banking or head of E&P investment banking. The service lines included: M&A, public and private equity, convertible preferred, high yield, investment grade debt, private placements, debt restructurings, strategic initiatives and fairness and solvency opinions. Clients were both domestic and international, including E&P companies, oilfield services, pipelines, MLPs and trust issuers. They have ranged from large multinational oil and gas companies to small domestic private companies. In total, Jim has worked on transactions totaling over $70 billion in value over his career. He is FINRA Series 7, Series 79, Series 63 and Series 24 licensed.

Jim received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from Princeton University.
