Albert Napier Rice Launch Challenge last week. 2025 Rice Innovation Fellow Alexandria Carter won the top prize and $50,000 for her startup Bionostic.

Alex Cantin is graduating this May with a degree in business management, including a minor in entrepreneurship, from the Virani Undergraduate School of Business at Rice and will join McKinsey as a consultant. Cantin said he chose Rice because of the faculty-student ratio and because he would be one of the early graduates of the new Virani School.

The Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University has added nine faculty members with expertise ranging from management to marketing. It’s a record number of new tenured and tenure-track professors for the school.

The Houston Business Journal has named Rice University President David Leebron as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for the 2022 Diversity in Business Awards, which will be held June 23. Leebron became Rice's seventh president in 2004, and he will retire June 30. During that time, Rice has not only grown significantly but also became more diverse.
Amy Dittmar, a distinguished scholar with an extensive background in economics, finance and university administration, has been named the new provost of Rice University. She will be joined at Rice by her husband of 28 years, Robert “Bob” Dittmar, who will be a professor of finance at the Jones Graduate School of Business.
