Rice Business Energy Case Competition

Calling all energy and sustainability enthusiasts: registration for the Rice Business Energy Case Competition 2025 (RECC) is now open!

MBA students are invited to form teams of 4-5 students. Participants will engage in a business-focused case competition centered around tackling energy’s most pressing challenges through innovative business opportunities.

The first place team will win a $10,000 cash prize.

As organizations face increasing investment choices around energy, prospective business leaders will evaluate their risks and opportunities, balancing sustainability and reliability needs in creative ways that provide sustained competitive advantage while adapting to the rapidly evolving energy landscape. This year's theme will focus on the impact of AI on energy systems, and the case prompt will be released to registered teams on September 19, 2025.

Now in its fifth year, the case competition draws MBA candidates from across the country —presenting an exceptional opportunity for students to demonstrate critical thinking skills and business acumen. Industry professionals play a key role in assessing and evaluating presentations and provide participants with valuable networking opportunities with prospective employers.
