Senior Executive General Manager - Technology & Operations

Scott Parent is Senior Executive General Manager, Technology & Operations, for GE Power’s Distributed Power business. In this role Scott is responsible for Engineering and Manufacturing with a key focus on Brilliant Factory. As leading provider of power equipment and services, Distributed Power is focused on power generation and gas compression at or near the point of use. Distributed Power’s product portfolio includes highly efficient industrial reciprocating engines that generate 200 kW to 10 MW of power for numerous industries globally. The business is headquartered in Jenbach, Austria.
Scott rejoined GE in 2013 after more than four years in various roles in the energy industry. Most recently he was vice president of technology operations at BP, where he focused on subsea and floating systems technologies. Before joining BP, he was vice president of technology for drilling and evaluation at Baker Hughes, where he led a team of engineers and scientists developing technology, software and products for down-hole drilling and evaluation measurements. Scott previously held various leadership positions during more than 18 years in industrial systems and automation, first with Steag-Hammatech, then joining GE in 2000. His roles at GE focused on research and development for gasification and advanced simulation and optimization technologies supporting GE Advanced Materials, Aircraft Engines and Power Systems.
Scott has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife, Wendy, live in Houston, Texas.
