Puneet Verma

Puneet Verma joined Avangrid in 2020 and is the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs. He leads the company’s federal policy and engagement efforts for Avangrid’s full suite of businesses including eight electric and natural gas utilities, as well as one of the largest wind and solar businesses in the U.S. With over 30 years of experience, Puneet has an extensive background and commercial understanding of the energy sector ranging from policy, advocacy, and commercialization of new ventures.
Currently, Puneet serves on the Executive Board of Directors for the American Clean Power Association, American Council on Renewable Energy, and the National Capital Area Council for Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous public-private partnerships, boards, and government advisory committees focused on advancing new energy technologies, promoting international trade, and developing sound government policies.
Prior to joining Avangrid, Puneet worked in Government Affairs for Chevron. Before that, he held increasing leadership roles in their technology ventures group, policy team, and managed the company’s Hydrogen Program. He has also held business development, finance, and engineering roles with Pacific Gas & Electric and Potomac Electric Power Company.
Puneet has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master of Business Administration degree from George Washington University.
