Undergraduate School and Major: University of New Haven, B.S. Chemical Engineering

What led you to pursue an MBA? My B.S. in chemical engineering gave me the technical skills to succeed in industry, but I wanted to understand the business aspects as well. Combining these two skill sets would allow me to make well rounded decisions in a very competitive field.
Why did you choose Rice for your professional MBA? Rice's professional program is located on campus with access to all of the professors and a copious amount of resources to help me succeed. The atmosphere and the people felt welcoming. Rice appeared to be a place where I could feel comfortable, pick electives that suited my interests, and thrive throughout the MBA program.
What has been a highlight of the program? The social networking and different backgrounds of all my classmates has been a highlight of the program. I have been able to make lifelong friends and join a strong network that is not only in Houston, but around the world.
What has surprised you about the journey so far? Before starting my MBA, I wondered how I was going to balance work, life and school. By no means has it been easy, but it has become second nature and the transition went very smooth.
What advice do you have for prospective students? Do your research before picking a school to do your MBA. Around Houston alone there are many different professional programs starting up and where you get your MBA matters. Make sure the school you pick matches your interests and can give you the tools to reach your goals.
