As provost, Amy is the chief academic officer for the university and supports excellence in all of the university's academic, research, scholarly and creative programs and activities. Amy will share insights from her career journey and discuss her passion projects and vision for Rice's future.

Amy Dittmar, a distinguished scholar with an extensive background in economics, finance and university administration, was named provost of Rice University in June 2022. She came to Rice from the University of Michigan where she held a series of top-level administrative roles, including acting provost, senior vice provost, executive vice president for academic affairs, and chief academic and budgetary officer. Dittmar earned her bachelor’s degree in finance and business economics from Indiana University and Ph.D. in finance from the University of North Carolina. She is a scholar of corporate finance, governance and gender economics. Her research centers around the complex interactions between ownership, governance, individual preferences and financial structure in public and private organizations to understand the role of incentives in decision-making and performance.

As executive director at Halliburton Labs, Scott was responsible for launching the organization in 2020. He currently oversees external engagement and collaborates to build a thriving clean energy community on the Third Coast and around the world. He joined Halliburton in 2014 where he managed multiple strategic efforts taking new technologies from ideation to commercial success at scale. Scott holds a chemical engineering degree from Brigham Young University and is a graduate of Rice Business where he founded the Jones Student Association for Executives. He's also the co-founder of [un]Brands and Voice Standard. In 2022, Scott was named one of Oil and Gas Investor's Forty Under 40, a program that honors and celebrates trailblazers in the energy sector. He actively supports multiple startup organizations as a mentor, advisor and investor.
