Jordan Newhouse
Jordan Newhouse’s desire to grow as a business thought leader and expand her leadership capabilities motivated her to apply for an MBA. But it was the on-campus experience and alumni network that sold her on Rice. “I was ready to contribute to a classroom discussion with other professionals and learn from their experiences as well as the concepts taught in the classroom.” Elected president of the Jones Student Association for MBAPs, she also began to assess what was best for the program and her classmates.
“My role is to identify opportunities to unite the MBA community and raise awareness of the benefit of obtaining an MBA within industry. My experience at Rice has given me the opportunity to work in groups with people who have diverse backgrounds and bring different skillsets to the group. The program has helped me better understand how to work on a multi-disciplinary team with unique and diverse strengths. It has helped me identify the benefit of using each of our strengths to balance the team and make it more effective.”
"A leader is someone who knows how and when to follow but is also able to motivate a team of individuals to work towards reaching a set of goals. In addition, leadership encompasses the ability to stay organized, motivated and on task in order to set an example for a team that is working together."
