What led you to pursue an MBA? Health care is undergoing a lot of changes and I wanted to understand the business side of medicine. For me it was one of the ways to improve my personal value proposition and give me different options for my future career.
Why did you choose Rice for your executive MBA? I had attended Rice for the Certificate in Medical and Health Care Management in 2009. I was really impressed with the quality of the program. I liked the diversity of the student body and the experience of the faculty. The structure of the program appealed to me as well.
What has been a highlight of the program? The executive forum and seminars have been the highlight for me. It has challenged my thinking patterns and changed my communication style.
What has surprised you about the journey so far? I came into the program with an open mind and did not expect many surprises. However I have been impressed by the effort that faculty take to make sure our experience is excellent in every way. The quality of guest speakers has been superb.
What advice do you have for prospective students? The workload can be heavy and you need to enlist the full support of your family as the time commitment can be high. Imagine yourself standing by the ocean. Take a deep breath and dive in, hold your breath and you will come out a better person in two years. Come with an open mind and take advantage of all that the program offers including the executive and diction coaching if it is appropriate for you.
