The TIPS conference, now in its 8th year, is a forum for students and faculty from Texas and Southwestern universities with investment management curriculum.

TIPS 2011 provided the more than 200 participants with a wonderful opportunity to learn from and interact with senior investment industry professionals through three keynote presentations, two panel discussions, and several networking events.

TIPS 2011 was also home to two competitions:

• CFA Institute's Investment Research Challenge - Texas in which four finalist schools, based on a research report, presented their stock research to a panel of judges.
  
  Congratulations to winner Rice University, runner-up University of Texas-Austin, and finalists University of Houston and Tulane University.
   
• Portfolio Manager's Finalist Competition in which teams 'pitched' their investment process to a panel of judges.
  
  Congratulations to winner Baylor University, second place University of Houston, third place Rice University, and finalists Trinity University and University of North Texas.
