Katherine Schieffelin

Assistant Dean, External Relations

Katherine Speyer Schieffelin is assistant dean, External Relations at the Jones School.  She has 16 years of experience in fundraising, most notably at Babson College, the Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania), and the Darden School of Business (University of Virginia), where she served as vice president of development.  Katherine has also worked at one of the country’s largest trade associations, the National Restaurant Association (NRA), where she served as SVP and chief development officer for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and served on the CEO’s strategic management team for the NRA. 

In the course of her career, Katherine has personally raised over $100 million and has been part of the senior team executing nine-figure comprehensive campaigns at Wharton and Darden.  Most recently, she served as of counsel and senior philanthropic advisor for the international consulting firm of Graham Pelton, where she served as campaign counsel for one of DC’s most elite private schools.

Katherine has a JD, cum laude, from Pace University School of Law in New York and served as an attorney in the Business and Securities Litigation division of the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York, NY.  Her primary focus was defending boards of directors in civil litigation under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, common law fraud and RICO.  She received her B.A. in English with Honors from Skidmore College, New York. 

In a volunteer capacity, Katherine has served on the board of the Handel & Haydn Society, a period orchestra in Boston; The Huntington Theater, a repertory theater company associated with Boston University; and the McGuffin Theatre & Film Company, a teen repertory theater company in Philadelphia.

Katherine and her husband, Michael, have two adult children, Elsa and Sarah, two dogs and one cat.
