What about the Rice MBA program has surprised you the most?
The speed that we move at! It's not bad, but it's something to get used to when you're working full time and moving at your own pace. Suddenly you have a list of events every single week, and every night of the week contains some kind of presentation, deliverable, class, project, or lecture. I love how invigorating it is, but it was definitely a surprise.

What has been your favorite moment of your Rice MBA experience so far?
I actually really enjoyed launch week/immersion week. It was totally exhausting but it was an incredible way to bond with my teammates and classmates. I wish we had some similar kind of bonding experience for the start of each Rice semester--we recently swapped up our Sections in the PMBA program and I felt like we didn't have enough structure to bond with our new Section fellows. I think Immersion Week was fantastic.

What is your favorite thing about and/or favorite spot in Houston?
I grew up here so I'm biased, but I love everything about Houston save for the weather June-August! I think my favorite spot in Houston is the Memorial Park forest trail. Houston has an abundance of fun restaurants, bars, museums, and more, but the forest trails that weave through the depth of Memorial Park provide such a nice escape from the noise without driving more than 10 or 15 minutes from most inner-city locations.

In a sentence, what is the one piece of advice you have for prospective students?
Reach mutual understanding with your families, friends, partners, and company (if you're a PMBA student) that you're going to be focusing heavily on education. Rice is a strong but demanding program, and you're going to have to hit pause on some non-essential hobbies, pastimes, etc. Rice provides plenty of exciting opportunities but in order to make the absolute most of your two years at the school, you have to be prepared to fully commit!
