Jeff Lanier

Global Head of Health Business Alliances, Health Insurance, AIG

Jeff D. Lanier currently serves as Global Head of Health Business Alliances in the Health Insurance business of AIG. In this role, he is responsible for the overall ownership and oversight for business alliances and partnerships, including acquired , merged, or joint venture entities. He is accountable for all business and financial performance of all alliances and partnerships and related products, services and/or operations, including successful integration of acquired or merged entities. 

He is currently responsible for the newly acquired Irish Health Insurance company, Laya Healthcare in Ireland, the further development of strategic partnership with PICC Health in China, and on-going exploration and development of product and business partnerships for the Global health business.

Prior to assuming this role, Jeff served as Vice President and Chief of Staff for AIG Global Life, Health, and Disability business since 2013. In this role, he was responsible for driving a broad range of critical activities from highly strategic to tactical, helping the organization focus on and achieve its critical goals, including managing vision and purpose, designing and implementing enterprise wide programs, improving processes and business structure, implementing change management, executing on strategic growth initiatives, and acting as interim Head of Latin America/EMEA Regions.

While in this role, he acted as Head of the Latin America Region with annual revenue of $25M, drove the development of International Life Expansion strategy presented to AIG board, provided leadership and high-level program management enabling the AIG’s reentry into China Life market via the PICC Joint Venture, and served as AIG Business Integration Lead and Steering Committee member for ~ $300M acquisition of UK based Ageas Protect.

Mr. Lanier formerly served as Director, Strategy & Business Planning for American General Life and Health since June 2010. In this role, he had the overall responsibility for driving efforts within Finance to identify, design and deploy change and process improvement initiatives including designing the corporate strategic planning process and frameworks and the development of management reporting. Mr. Lanier joined American General in February 2008 as Associate Director, Strategy & Business Planning for American General.

Prior to joining American General, Mr. Lanier was a Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Operations, Healthcare division assisting Healthcare companies in their strategic & operational improvement and MA&D efforts. Select projects include a $5 billion post-divestiture implementation for Bayer Healthcare across North America, Latin American, and Europe; building a pharmaceutical distribution business from ground up for U.S. Oncology, a division of McKesson; and process improvement/non-patient revenue analysis for HealthSouth.

He is experienced in a diverse set of Fortune List companies such as Deloitte Consulting, Bayer, Siemens, Weatherford, HealthSouth, US Oncology, and AIG as well as small start-up companies including bone allograft manufacturing, electronic medical records software, and hospital construction.

Mr. Lanier earned his master’s in business administration degree at Rice University’s Jones School of Business with honors, and two bachelor’s degrees at The University of Texas, Austin with high honors.

He is a previous member of the UT Leaders of Tomorrow; Previous Board member of the MFAH Art Crowd and Park People Young Saplings and; current member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He lives in Houston with his wife and three children.
