This Thought Leadership Series explores the vast new ExxonMobil campus in north Harris County and its impact for both the corporation as an energy industry leader and the larger Houston community. Keynote speaker Jim Hennessy will deliver a broad view of the enormous undertaking necessary to build the 385 acre campus scheduled to be fully occupied with 10,000 employees in mid-2015. He will discuss ExxonMobil's planning stages, site consolidation and employee relocation, employee amenities and workflow considerations, accessibility and sustainability, construction, architecture and design. Mark Cover and Dan Dubrowski will provide their perspectives on how the ExxonMobil campus compares with other commercial development properties as well as impacts commercial real estate investment in Houston.

Hennessy James Hennessy
Project Executive, Houston Campus Project, ExxonMobil

In his 37 year career with ExxonMobil, Jim Hennessy has held a variety of positions in research, refining, supply and marketing areas and has had responsibility for various operations in the United States, Latin America, and Asia. Immediately prior to his current assignment, he was vice president of the lubricants company with global sales and customer service responsibility. In his current role as Project Executive for ExxonMobil’s new Houston Campus, he has responsibility for design and construction of the campus but also for business and operational readiness. Jim is a proud graduate of Rice University’s Chemical Engineering Department and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. He and his wife Renee have two children.

Senior Managing Director, CEO-Southwest Region, Hines

 Mr. Cover joined Hines in 1983. He serves as a senior managing director and is the regional profit center officer responsible for the Southwest Region of the United States; Mexico and Central America, representing more than 20 million square feet (1.85 million square meters) of real estate. He is a member of Hines’ Executive Committee. He graduated from Bob Jones University with a BS in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (retired).
 
Dubrowski Dan Dubrowski
Founding Partner, The Lionstone Group, and Lecturer in Finance – Management, Jones Graduate School of Business

Dan is a founding partner of The Lionstone Group. He serves as an Investment Committee member and as the lead partner responsible for Lionstone's national Cash Flow Office programs. Prior to forming Lionstone, Dan was a senior officer with Hines. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and received his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Dan has also taught at the Harvard Business School and is currently a Lecturer in Finance – Management teaching the Real Property course at the Jones School at Rice University.

Duarte Jefferson Duarte
Associate Professor of Finance and Gerald D. Hines Associate Professor of Real Estate Finance, Jones Graduate School of Business

Jefferson Duarte is an Associate Professor of Finance and the Gerald D. Hines Professor of Real Estate Finance. Prof. Duarte’s research has been published in the top journals of his field. His research has also been widely covered in U.S. and international media, including the following papers and magazines: The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Reuters, Dow Jones Newswires, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, Barron’s and The Economist. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica (Brazil), and both an MBA and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining Rice University, Prof. Duarte was an Associate Professor at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington in Seattle. Currently teaching Real Estate Finance, Prof. Duarte has also taught PhD and MBA level courses in option pricing models, term structure models, empirical asset pricing and risk management.
