The business school is engaged with organizations that help us influence the gender equality agenda. These collaborations strengthen our community of students, alumni, faculty and staff; guide us in opportunities for leadership; and support the inclusive culture at the business school.

National Association for Women MBAS (NAWMBA)

NAWMBA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering female business professionals to propel more women into leadership positions in corporate America and to enhance the diversity of the nation’s workforce.

The business school has been an integral partner to NAWMBA having served as the national headquarters for NAWMBA from 2002 – 2012. We invested approximately $100,000 to be the first-ever lead academic sponsor for an annual NAWMBA conference (’09 Anaheim, California).

Many of our MBA alumna have served in key leadership roles within the organization. Tonya Olpin ’08 is the former Executive Director (2007 – 2011) and Laura Wright Southall ’07 is on the national board.

The business school's student chapter of NAWMBA hosts an always anticipated annual “WOMEN in LEADERSHIP” conference as well as various alumni and business community networking events throughout the academic year.

In addition to school’s involvement and support of NAWMBA at the institutional and national level, the school also supports the local Houston Professional Chapter of NAWMBA which is the nation’s largest with four business school alumna at the helm as board members.
