I grew up in Lake Jackson and knew what Rice was my entire life. Rice was this school where only the really, really smart kids got to go. When I finally got here, I was right: it really was full of smart kids. After graduating high school I was going into project management type fields. I really enjoyed construction, showing up to work and facing new challenges and producing something tangible at the end of the day. That really describes where my passion is — getting to work in teams, solve interesting problems and have tangible results.
I went to Texas A&M for undergrad and got an internship at Halliburton. Halliburton then sent me to Iraq to work on project controls at Camp Anaconda for about four months. Seeing firsthand what is actually going on is different from reading articles or seeing news reports.
