I have eight Define studios in all, and the first out-of-state franchise is in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a former instructor who moved back to be with her family but didn’t want to leave us behind. We have a unique business model where we work on three different parts at once, strength, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility at the same time. It is the slow road, but it starts showing results and is sustainable so no one is doing it quite like us.
The biggest challenge of running a business is managing people. Team dynamics are very complicated, and it is better to have a team player than a superstar who stirs the pot. Next most challenging are building manuals, systems and processes to write so as to pass knowledge to other managers and new franchise owners.
